I'm reading lightweight aluminium and thinking ???? - I guess that it must do it's job - but that is not the material which imediately comes to mind when I think of armour plate. I'd like to get a job as a tester, where do I apply - I can imagine that firing missiles at trucks and measuring the impact would be a lot of fun

I guess that it comes down to the design and what you are trying to stop - my first reaction was that aluminum must be too soft, but maybe it absorbs a lot of the explosive energy ? maybe less shrapnel, thats always a killer in an explosion. Whatever it is - thats what they are going to run with - I'm just thank full that I won't be in the front line to report on the effect
