In the summer of 1969, two weeks after Neil Armstrong became the first man to walk on the Moon, rocket scientist Wernher von Braun delivered to Nasa a detailed, fully costed plan for landing humans on Mars .

as always, the sting is in the tail - "But then, I'm not the person paying for it." was the last line of the article . A very exiting proposition from an engineering perspective - there would be huge developments and innovation, but can we justify the dollars - I guess we just don't know what we can do until we try might be a good approach - maybe the first cave man said exactly the same thing - but the sting is in the tail - as noted above
