i think its more about status than technology - buy a car - strip it - copy it - you can buy technology - you can go into partnership agreements - all sorts of ways to go forwards -

well one example is that Hyundai did it to Honda - with the Sonata - was it a success - you be the judge of that !!

yes - i've also got to think that "presige" is a big part of the drivers for this purchase - reading thru the article, maybe the timing is just right and all of the investment is coming together - so it could be a very smart move

always a lot of innovative thinking comes out of the UK - usually the build quality lets them down - pity the Japs or Germans arn't buying

the Japs dont buy - they bring their own brands and compete on quality - take standard designs and make them work - very reliably

this seems to have been going on forever - just make a call and sell the brands - let somebody else have a go - it was never Ford - then again very few cars are these days
