Thirty one year old Jeb Corliss plans to be the first to jump out of a helicopter or plane wearing only a special wing suit . He is competing with several other teams in France, South Africa, New Zealand and Russia who are also working on similar projects. this would probably be the closest thing to human flight - well human gliding

well in theory , I guess that it should work a bit like the principle used by the flying foxes - they have a membrane of skin stretched out between their limbs and "glide" obviously the weight to upward pressure ratios need to be correct but ...I guess that it could work

the problems with this sort stunt is that the first guy does everything right and is methodical etc etc - works OK - and then the next guys coming along - looking for a buzz think this is easy - start to copy - but don't do the hard yards and start falling to the ground - of course its not the falling which is the problem - it's the sudden stop at the bottom - I suppose it's got to be done - why ? because it's there to be done of course
