Wealthy Chinese parents are buying toys which are NOT made in China . When freelance writer Wang Jian buys for toys for her young son, she’s happy to pay extra for Legos blocks and Japanese-brand train sets.

With a reputation for higher quality — a perception reinforced by the product scares of recent months, she and other parents are steering away from local products in favor of more expensive toys engineered and manufactured overseas

parents are the same the world over and educated parents know the dangers of lead and small items and sharp edges and all of the other safety things - so it's perfectly understandable that they want the best for their children

me too - I can see that the newspapers want to make a story out of this but as a parent - you want the best for your children and if thats imported expensive toys - so be it

maybe all of the Chinese toys have been exported to the west they are not going to let their own kids play with these dangerous lead covered, loose items etc toys

Well I don't think that's the case but I do think this could be the beginning of a trend towards China lifting it's game in terms of manufacturing.
