Firstly -let me say that I have nothing against HR people “per se” but whoever put this gag together likes to use the HR department as the fall guy (girl)
So here goes ….......
Once upon a time three HR people were walking through the woods and suddenly they were confronted by a huge, wild river – they were completely lost and could not go back the way they came, so they had to cross the river.
But how would they manage to get across such a raging torrent of water?
Eleven people were dangling below a helicopter on a rope. (I'm not sure how they got there – but stay with me)
There were ten HR people and one Engineer.
The engineer performed a quick calculation and determined that the rope was strong enough to hold 10 people – NOT 11.
Since the rope was not strong enough to hold all of the eleven people, they decided that one of them should to let go and sacrifice themselves to save the other 10 people.
After much debate they could not decide who should be the volunteer, so finally the Engineer said that he would sacrifice himself and let go of the rope .
But before he did , he wanted to say a few words -
He gave a speech, explaining that Engineers are used to doing everything for the company, going above and beyond the required workload. They forsake their family, don’t claim all of their expenses and do a lot of overtime without reward or recognition and it is only right that he should sacrifice himself yet again.
When he finished his deeply moving speech all the HR people began to clap ….....................
Moral: Don't hit the Panic Button until all options have been considered
Next time you are washing your hands and complain because the water temperature isn't just how you like it, think about how things used to be and how Engineers have changed peoples lives for the better.
