Clipped to the Drawing Board by jackson Browne

The Empire Strikes Back - well maybe not quite,  but there is an awakening of the sleeping giant

Most Americans know John Ratzenberger as “Cliff Claven” from the hit television show “Cheers,” but in recent years, he has taken up the cause of American manufacturing.

There are always 2 sides to every storey - I can see the nostalgia - but is that where the US wants to be - in the smoke stack industries. ? I don't know - is there a documented government position on this - Whilst the Western countries probably don't want the "dirty" industries, once the skill base is gone, it's hard to see it ever coming back - if there is a need - and who knows what may be around the corner - personally, I think it is a matter of getting the balance right - but what that balance is - thats the question

Keep your manufacturing skills base - its a clear cut decision - protect whats yours who knows what the future holds - but there is a clear need to be self sufficient - and not Dependant on overseas countries for manufactured goods - it's a chain reaction from design through to manufacture and the support industries
