A keen sense of smell

Clipped to the Drawing Board by Sean
Did you know Trivia - A leading wine maker and taster has insured his nose for  3.9 million British pounds  thats US$7.73 million.  Lloyd's of London are famous for never refusing to insure anything or anyone - providing that the premium is "right" .
Lloyd's usually work in the commercial world with  large corporations - but they are not averse to  insuring celebrity limbs and other body parts,  for example they have insured Fred Astaire's legs and Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards' hands.
In this particular case,  Mr Gort is the Dutch owner of Chateau de la Garde in Bordeaux, which produces Tulipe Wines.
He claims that his nose is able to distinguish millions of different scents and that it is essential to the continuing success of his business,  in order to guarantee the quality of his wines.
Jonathan Thomas is the lead underwriter at Watkins Syndicate, the insurers who co-insured the policy, and he said: "The nose and sense of smell of an Oenologist (wine maker) are as important as the fingers of a chef."
