Bone implants and stents benefit from nonowire coating

Going in to hospital for hip replacement or stent ?
University of Arkansas researchers have found a simple, inexpensive way to create a nanowire coating on the surface of biocompatible titanium that can be used to create more effective surfaces for hip replacement, dental reconstruction and vascular stenting. Further, the material can easily be sterilized using ultraviolet light and water or using ethanol, making it useful in hospital settings and meat-processing plants.

just like a lot of other things in life - the more you do - the better you get and the more you develop better ways of doing it - been doing this sort of stuff for a few years - but its a matter of getting better

at the end of the day the body is just a machine - and works on fundamental engineering principles - across all of the disciplines -

up to a point - there are then areas where the body takes over and accepts or rejects - all we can do is work on the percentages and know that there is a high probabliity of success - never 100% certain

anyway this technology looks like a pretty good step forwards to increase the cahnces of success and there are going to be a lot more of these types of procedures - aging population etc

yeah - i think that this generation has probably been a lot more active and the ravages of sport and activity will be catching up - but they don't want to slow down - so it is a case of do what needs doing to keep the body functioning
- so there will be a lot of body maintenace needed and these new techniques will be good

no need to get too sophisticated then -just rough up the surface with some emery paper on a wheel then hit it with a solvent - say white spirit - that should be enough to get a good bond

yeah - go with a standard 2 part epoxy - that'll stick to most things
