Health inspectors for Chinese food factories

Clipped to the Drawing Board by Dillon Smatcher
Health and safety concerns over food exports from China have prompted an agreement to station American Inspectors in food factories which supply products to the US.
This agreement came as Chinese and American representatives negotiated over recent trade and economic disputes in Beijing on Tuesday and later on Wednesday at the opening of high-level talks

I don't know about anybody else, but I am really uncomfortable with imported foods. you just don't know what hygiene standards there are in the factories - so I'm all in favour of getting US inspectors on the factory floor

I've worked in food factories over here and some of them arn't that good when it comes to standards - so I can imagine that overseas they can be a lot worse

yeah, I've done a lot of overseas travelling and can tell you that there is a lot of difference between here and there when it comes to standards of hygiene and clean - after a while you get used to it - after having the runs and throwing up - so yeah - its got to be a good thing

a lot of people critisise McDonalds but they know how to run a tight ship when it comes to high standards

you've lost me with this comment Arnie - I'm not sure how McDonalds and overseas inspectors get on the same page ?? unless you mean that they should all adopt the McDonalds systems

something like that - McD have some good systems and whilst the food might be a bit dull they work hard at being clean and having good systems and work ethics etc - so even when travelling overseas - the McD 's are usually clean and good value

of course one of the other problems is that the minor ingredients, colors and flavours etc get spread around all sorts of foodstuffs, often in very small quantities and don't get identified - so they just sort of "get lost in the system" but still have the potential to be contaminated - anything coming out of South East Asia/China needs to be treated with the greatest suspicion
