Clipped to the Drawing Board by Ryan
Like everything else in this world we are not perfect.  There are weaknesses in our mind that most of us trip over,  possibly without even realising it.  In being made aware of these mistakes we can more easily avoid them and be better off.  So lets have a look at 7 common thinking errors that people make:
  • Confirmation bias
  • Hindsight bias
  • Clustering illusion
  • Recency effect
  • Anchoring bias
  • Overconfidence effect
  • Fundamental Attribution error
Now that you are aware of them you are on your way to a better you and breaking those old habits.

The biggest problem I have with any of this type of self improvement is - Discipline - I read it, understand it promise that I'll do it - but somewhere along the way - it never seems to happen - what I need is a Tuit - these are invariably round and everyone needs one - I know that it will all come together when I get a Round Tuit

good articles and good advice on how to make it happen - I can see that a Round Tuit would be an advantage, but I believe that I can get some of these happening without one - but hey - thanks for the advice

i generally read these sort of articles and go yeah, yeah , yeah same old - then every now and again i see something and start saying - wait a minute - thats me, yes thats me and i can directly relate to the points being made and yes - I should do that - hang on, i can do that - no i WILL do that
- all good

the "so called' experts are always coming out with this stuff - but who takes it seriously ??
they sell a few books and make a few dollars with it - but it's just the same old stuff being recycled - theres only one habit you need - put your head down and tail up and Just Do It
Anonymous () Newbie | 2007-12-12 19:41:09
yeah, i got to agree with Si - not much new - same stuff in a different package

Well this isn't really self help, it's more of a self analysis. I can definitely attest to suffering a few of these weaknesses but now that I'm more aware of them I will hopefully not succumb to them as much.

Well you say that but I'm willing to bet that in a few weeks time you've completely forgotten.
Paul () Newbie | 2007-12-13 03:58:45
No not really. when I stumble across things like this I print them in big bold letters on a sheet of paper and stick them on my wall over my desk. I see them every day. After they've become habit i replace them.
