Carbon capture

US energy provider NRG Energy plans to show that it can capture CO2 from conventional coal-fuelled, electric power plants on a commercial scale

Coal remains the world’s major source of electricity, and the future will demand that engineers and scientists develop cleaner coal-fired technologies.
 
Carbon capture and storage could allow us to burn fossil fuels without climate consequences - but only with more investment in R&D.
